Spicy baked tilapia

I made this for my entire family the other night and they loved it! They are just as excited about my new cooking hobby as I am.

I made this recipe a little spicy, but you can choose to add less cayenne if you are sensitive to spicy food. This recipe is SO simple, and I already had all of the ingredients other than the tilapia:

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 4 6-oz tilapia fillets
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 lime

Preheat oven to 450°F. In a small bowl, mix garlic powder, chili powder, salt, black pepper and cayenne. Sprinkle evenly over both sides of tilapia. Coat a baking sheet with 1 tablespoon of the oil. Arrange tilapia in a single layer on the baking sheet. Drizzle tilapia with the remaining tablespoon of oil and bake until golden brown and flesh begins to flake, 7 to 9 minutes. Serve with lime wedges on the side.
