The taste test: ground beef vs. ground turkey meatloaf

Meatloaf

Mom! The meat loaf! Sorry. I couldn’t resist. I can’t think of meatloaf and not think of that movie.

On a more serious note, I thought about doing a taste test, making two batches with the exact same recipe, and comparing ground beef to turkey. I really do believe you could substitute this ground turkey meatloaf for beef and not many people would be able to tell the difference. I personally prefer ground turkey, but I honestly could not tell the difference!

So go ahead, try it yourself. I dare you.

  • 20 saltine crackers, crushed into crumbs
  • 16 oz ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 white onion
  • salt and pepper

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

In a bowl, mix all the ingredients together. Have fun with it. Get dirty. Use your hands to mix it all together. Transfer to a 9×5 inch baking pan, then bake in the oven for an hour. BAM. It’s that easy.
